Sarah Lundy, MSW, LCSW, LCADC Credentialed Intern, RYT
My name is Sarah Lundy (she/her/ella), and I am a Bilingual (English & Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Credentialed Intern (LCADC currently pending) in the State of New Jersey. I have earned my Masters in Social Work as well as certificates in "Violence Against Women and Children" and "Latina/o/x Initiatives for Service, Training, and Assessment" from Rutgers University.
My social work journey began in the field of immigration legal advocacy, where I worked in immigrant and refugee rights agencies in the U.S. and Latin America. I saw that many immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers faced sexual or gender-based violence, particularly women and LGBTQ+ folks. This work inspired me to pursue my social work career as I learned more about the intersections between trauma, sexual violence, and addiction. Since 2015, I have provided trauma-informed counseling and advocacy in non-profit spaces, sexual and domestic violence prevention programs, and treatment facilities for folks navigating through mental illness and/or addiction.
As a queer therapist, I understand how important it is to feel seen and heard for who you are, and that acknowledging your unique identities; (including culture, gender, race, and sexuality), is essential to your therapeutic experience. I am passionate about working with adult survivors of gender-based & interpersonal violence, individuals in recovery from substance abuse & and addiction, folks navigating trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, and other mood disorders, and folks in the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities.
Using a social justice lens and a strengths-based approach, I will work with you to meet your individual goals while staying grounded and connected to your communities. I incorporate various clinical interventions, including Trauma Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Horticultural Therapy, and Somatic/body-based approaches. I am a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher and Reiki practitioner, and I bring movement based and energetic practices into my work with clients whenever possible.
In addition to providing therapy, I provide sexual violence prevention education in middle schools, high schools, & colleges in Morris County. As a leader in the "Morris County Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition," I work with key stakeholders and community members to prevent sexual violence amongst students. I am also a co-founder and Wellness Director of "Sisterwork," a women-led community-based mentorship organization, that seeks to close the gaps faced by the Latinx community in Central New Jersey through community building, youth leadership, and sexual violence prevention.
I strongly believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my intention is for the work we do together to reflect that. I bring a holistic, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to every session and hold space for you wherever you are, each day. Humor, mindfulness, metaphors, and creativity are all essential to my therapeutic practice and I look forward to sharing them with you as we work together in this next chapter of your healing journey.
