Chrisula Tasiopoulos,

MSW, LCSW, RYT-200

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey with over 20 years of experience specializing in trauma-informed therapy. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from New York University and am an EMDR Certified Therapist as well as an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant.

My work has centered on supporting survivors of interpersonal trauma, including sexual violence, domestic violence, and childhood abuse and neglect. I’ve worked in both nonprofit settings and group clinical practices, and have served as a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Social Work, where I taught "Working With Survivors of Abuse and Trauma." I’ve also provided training for Rutgers’ Institute for Families, Research on Ending Violence, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the New Jersey Psychological Association.

I’m a member of EMDRIA, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and a founding member of the EMDR Trauma Recovery Network (TRN) in New Jersey, where we offer early EMDR intervention for survivors of mass events. Learn more at the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Beyond clinical practice, I’ve contributed to the field through advocacy, education, and writing. I served on the Governor’s Advisory Council Against Sexual Violence, the board of the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA), and contributed to the reference work Sexual Violence and Abuse: An Encyclopedia of Prevention, Impacts, and Recovery. I hold a Clinical Supervision Certification from Rutgers (2009) and have provided supervision to social workers pursuing licensure in the past.

My approach is holistic and somatically informed. I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher and trained in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga through the Center for Trauma and Embodiment. I completed 100 hours of training with MAPS for MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy and continue deepening my knowledge with advanced training in Clinical Hypnosis and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) with Dr. Frank Corrigan.

I actively engage in professional consultation and peer networks to stay grounded and current in complex trauma work. I also provide consultation to other clinicians, particularly in the areas of developmental and attachment trauma, dissociative disorders, and EMDR.

My practice is rooted in empowerment, relational healing, and cultural humility. I honor the unique identities and lived experiences each client brings, and I strive to co-create a safe, affirming, and transformative space for healing.
